What is Bio::Neos, Inc.?
Bio::Neos, Inc. is a bioinformatics software company that specializes in solutions for genomic research laboratories and biotechnology companies. Incorporated in January of 2004, Bio::Neos is owned and operated in Iowa City, IA by a group of research scientists and engineers with diverse professional backgrounds in computer technology, genetics, and biology.
Bio::Neos specializes in software consulting and packaged programs. Our software consultation process enables one-on-one communication with customers allowing the creation of software customized specifically to meet their needs. The packaged products we offer are composed of proven programs that have accelerated researchers' work nationally.
The first packaged product, titled Bio::POD, was released on January 9th, 2006. Bio::POD (Prioritized Oligo Design) incorporates both data management and a unique data analysis to deliver a powerful new application for sequence variation discovery projects. Bio::POD addresses the difficulties in the area of sequence variation identification with a unique data analysis, helping researchers more efficiently and quickly search for disease-causing mutations in humans, mice, and other animals, and phenotype-altering variations in plants. New releases of Bio::POD with additional features will continue to be developed in addition to new products that will benefit the scientific community.
In November 2007, Bio::Neos released a free gene browser, titled GANT (Gene and Annotation Navigation Tool) that is a stand alone application. GANT is a service-based application that is pluggable and extensible. Users can view a gene of interested displayed right alongside associated annotation. Data is gathered from public repositories and using the plugin architecture can easily be expanded as new sources and plugins become available. GANT also provides users with useful features. Users can design primers at incredible speeds by using Bio::Neos, Inc's optomized Primer3 server. GANT is an ongoing application that is continually developed and released.
